Impact of overgrazing and climate change on the lake ecosystem in arid region

Mongolia's geographical location, extreme climate, fragile ecosystems, agricultural dependence on climate requires adaptation to global change and smart usage of natural resources. The water level most lakes in Mongolia had been steadily increasing from mid-1960s 1995 declining 1996. purpose this study is determine current condition by each ecosystem compartment around the Lake Duruutsagaan define cause lake shrinking deterioration ecosystem. was carried out following elements: hydrology, hydrobiology, forest, soil, pasture, plant species composition, animals. surface area slightly decreased 24.21% 10.02 km2 2003 7.59 2017. highly mineralized, probably due increases evaporation water. Also elevated concentrations some chemical elements are detected water, including Phosphorus (22.6 mg L-1) Arsenic (198 L-1). high concentration these two shown different kind pollution existed lake. Probably, arsenic content related geological composition surrounding area, but P can be attributed nutrient soil erosion Species diversity limited only a few crustaceans that tolerate under salinity polluted present. All samples have low clay particles (between 2.6-8.5%). According data, pasture land moderately 80.95%, strongly 7.04% deteriorated direct indirect effects overgrazing. Especially, regeneration not observed forest area. results, its indicating need for protection restoration management.
